Red Army Soldier Yelin Viktor Konstantinovich demonstrated bravery and fearlessness during offensive battles at the approaches to Kryvyi Rih, repeatedly showing exceptional courage and heroism.

He particularly distinguished himself on February 14, 1944, when German forces launched a counteroffensive with tanks and infantry. Yelin held his ground under intense fire, engaging the attacking enemy forces.
