Service Record and Citation

Comrade Trufanov actively participated in the Great Patriotic War. As an infantryman in the 986th Infantry Regiment, 223rd Infantry Division, he demonstrated bravery and heroism in combat.

On September 5, 1943, his infantry company was tasked with seizing a strategic height near Chystiakove village, Donetsk Oblast. During the battle, he sustained a severe leg injury from artillery shell fragments.

After over a year of hospitalization, he underwent amputation of his left leg, becoming a Category III disabled veteran of the Great Patriotic War.
